About Main Street Madison

Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive downtown Madison where historic heritage, local entrepreneurs, and community connection flourish - fueling sustainable economic growth and enhancing quality of life for the community.

Following a rigorous application and certification process, Main Street Madison was officially accepted into the Main Street Alabama program. We are part of a storied national movement—Main Street America—which has spent over 40 years refining a successful model for downtown economic development and historic preservation across the United States.

This membership grants our community access to an incredible wealth of resources, from professional design consultations to specialized economic data and training. However, Main Street Madison remains a grassroots organization at its core. Our board and committees are comprised of local volunteers, and our strategic goals are set entirely by the needs of our Madison neighbors.

Main Street Madison, Inc. is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, working in close coordination with our "sister" 501(c)(3) organization, Madison Visionary Partners. We work in partnerships with the City of Madison, local business owners and community partners to ensure the long-term vitality and economic strength of our downtown district.
