Madison Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Newly Designated Historic Downtown Entertainment District

MADISON, Ala. – City leaders, business owners, and community partners gathered today in Historic Downtown Madison to celebrate the official launch of the City’s newly designated Historic Downtown Entertainment District. The ribbon cutting, held at Garner St. Alley, marked a major milestone in Madison’s efforts to reinvest in its historic core and bring new energy and foot traffic to the heart of the city.

Mayor Ranae Bartlett joined members of the City Council, Main Street Madison, and downtown merchants to recognize the years of coordinated work that led to the district’s creation.

“Today marks a commitment to our downtown’s future,” said Mayor Ranae Bartlett.  “Establishing an entertainment district creates new opportunities for people to gather, support local businesses, and experience the unique charm that defines Historic Downtown Madison. This is an exciting step toward a more vibrant city center.”

Main Street Madison, which earned its Main Street Alabama designation earlier this year, played a central role in advancing the initiative by collaborating closely with merchants, property owners, and City officials.

“This is a milestone moment for our downtown, and we’re thrilled to see it come to life,” said Jen DeLessio, Executive Director of Main Street Madison Alabama. “Today’s celebration shows just how much momentum we have moving forward.”

Combining historic preservation with renewed investment, Madison continues to shape a thriving and sustainable downtown experience as a destination for residents and visitors.
